Robin Hood (2006-2009)

  • Brought to you by the BBC! A TV series spanning three seasons! All about the fabulous, infamous, “Steal from the rich, give to the poor” — you know who I mean — Robin Hood! With Jonas Armstrong in the title role, and Lucy Griffiths as Lady Marian; they fight against the Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Keith Allen, and his sidekick, Guy of Gisborne, played by Richard Armitage!
  • Joking aside, I did enjoy watching this show. It’s generally light-hearted, good triumphs, and it’s family friendly. The cast does pretty well portraying their characters. The female roles, while few, generally portray them as strong, capable people. The bad guys are evil, slimy, hilarious, and incompetent.
  • Some downsides: That light-heartedness sometimes = cheesiness. It’s often terribly anachronistic. The women’s costumes in the second season suddenly become much less modest and less practical. Someone dies in pretty much every episode.
  • There is a National Treasure/Da Vinci Code episode. And an Ocean’s Eleven episode (complete with gambling tables and a ridiculously complicated and unrealistic treasure vault).
  • Marian was my favorite character.
